Department Zero is hosting a series of First Friday events in our Kansas City Crossroads headquarters throughout the summer, to raise awareness and funds for local charities, support local Kansas City artists, and develop a platform for local community activation.

The First Friday Pop-Up on June 6, 2014 will raise funds and awareness for KC Pet Project’s “Pets for KC” campaign. The event features work by KC Pet Project volunteer photographers Chad Ackerman, Aimee Parsons, and Tim Yeaglin. GoodDog2Go mobile truck will be onsite serving up dog specialties, Collar for Collar will be featured in the pop up retail shop, and Nudges Dog Treats will be sampling their Made-In-America products. The KC Pet Project will have adorable puppies to meet, and those who make donations at the event will be entered to will a grand prize. Portions of all funds raised at the event will benefit KC Pet Project and their “Pets for KC” campaign.

KC Pet Project’s “Pets for KC” campaign takes place during the 100K Challenge, a nationwide adoption event sponsored by the ASPCA and Rachael Ray. They are one of fifty shelters competing to save more lives between June and August of 2014 than they did last year. KC Pet Project’s goal is to save 2,498 lives, an increase of 1,000 more than they did during that same period in 2013. They are hosting adoption and community events as well as partnering with Kansas City businesses to increase awareness about the shelter. Currently, they are working to find sponsors to help cover the cost of advertising, subsidizing lost revenue from low price adoptions, and more.  If KC Pet Project succeeds, they will win much needed funds in the amount of $100,000.
